About The Artist
Tammy Hinkle developed a passion for painting at a very early age. It was at the age of 5, she created her first painting on canvas. Over the years, her talent and skill grew. Then, just after graduating from high school, she was discovered by a large mural company in Virginia. Her work can be seen in many residences and businesses up and down the east coast. Tammy’s work can even be seen on several aircraft carriers and Naval war ships. In 1989, she started a fine art mural business near Richmond and focused on her favorite painting technique known as "Trompe L'oeil" (translates from French as "fool the eye”).
Creating some of Tammy’s murals required as many as five levels of scaffolding. After more than 30 years painting these large murals, the work began affecting her physical health. In the winter of 2016, she created her last piece of work on a ceiling. This "leather look" faux finish was created in the Louisa, Virginia TimberBuilt home of Bob, a client who later, became a dear friend. During lunch with her newfound friend, tears came to her eyes as she said out loud, "I can't do this anymore." Bob’s compassion and heart led him to inspire and mentor Tammy. Together, they created a plan for the future of Tammy’s talent. The new plan is for Tammy to make a transition to sharing her talent on canvas. In keeping with her plan, she has launched “Memories in Paint”. She hopes that your memories, emotion, and imagination are stirred by her work.
